Make some money, help your sport

OK some new news for all you bodyboarders out there: SABA has decided to make sponsorship procurement more of a bodyboarder community based initiative to help get the wheels turning a little faster.

We are going to be introducing a 'Finders Fee' of 5% to anyone that brings SABA a cash sponsorship for its events or tour. Of course only leads that have the outcome of a secured sponsorship will receive their payout, but it is a great opportunity. If you have the right contacts, or know how to sell an idea or concept, you could conceivably make enough money for a trip to Hawaii for yourself. If SABA secures a sponsorship of R100 000 from your lead, you get R5000 for yourself.

The procedure should go something like this: download and print the SABA sponsorship proposal from the SABA Library, do your best to print it on a good quality printer, on nice paper at photo quality settings, and also download and print the form that outlines the basic cash requirements to run either SABA or IBA sanctioned world tour events, and show them to anyone you think might be interested. If you have some family connections in big business, ask them to help you out.

The specific cost breakdowns of running SABA and IBA events are not included, as they are simply too exhaustive, but if any potential sponsor is interested in finding out more, please direct them to us (Alistair Taylor and Sally Mellish contact details are on the form). We can then provide them with exact cost breakdowns of competition, as well as specific information on the media coverage our events can generate for sponsors.

You should not have to worry too much about selling bodyboarding to anyone, although if that's what you're good at, then by all means go ahead- but the SABA sponsorship proposal is designed to outline in brief what our sport is all about. It should give the prospective party at least an idea of what bodyboarding is.

Also please do not modify any of the documents without SABA's permission, as if it comes out the wrong way, it may put SABA in a negative light. The documents are intellectual property rights of SABA and should be respected as such.

So if you have the time, contacts and interest in helping out bodyboarding in SA, you now also have a cash incentive to do so. Good luck and all the best in your efforts! Any leads you wish to refer to SABA can be directed to Alistair Taylor ([email protected] or 082 863 6665) or Sally Mellish ([email protected] or 082 467 4635).

ROUGH COST ESTIMATES FOR MAIN SPONSOR OF SABA NATIONAL OR IBA SANCTIONED WORLD TOUR EVENTS:

All monies in South African Rands:

SABA 1A: R 58,935
SABA 2A: R 66,235
SABA 3A: R 72,435
SABA 4A: R 79,735
SABA 5A: R 88,805
SABA 6A: R 98,905

Higher A ratings reward competitors with more points, thus attracting more entrants and also more media.

Above costs are not all inclusive, but other expenses can usually be covered by supporting sponsors.

Above costs include SABA providing a media agent for the event. If the sponsor chooses to provide their own media agent they may do so, and R5000 can be subtracted from the above costs.

If SABA provides media, we will be submitting daily press releases to over 400 outlets. We will also do whatever we can to get free TV coverage for the event, though this cannot be guaranteed.
If the sponsor is interested in pay-for-TV coverage (eg. SuperSport), this will be handled under a separate quote.

IBA Mens World Tour Event: Pro Only- R 191,200
IBA Womens World Tour Event: Pro Only- R 158,700
IBA Mens and Womens World Tour Event: Pro Only- R 256,200

Advantage to World Tour event is significantly more media, public interest, likelihood of free TV coverage and promotional opportunities.

UMBRELLA TOUR SPONSOR- R1,000,000

Umbrella sponsor would have naming rights to all the events, SABA or IBA, throughout the calendar year. All events would be presented by the umbrella sponsor, with the umbrella sponsor receiving priority on all media, press releases, scaffolding cladding, banners on the beach etc.
