El Confital Pro - Day 4 Highlights

Day four of the closing event on the IBA World Bodyboarding Tour was landmark day for Pro Bodyboarding.
Rounds 4 & 5 of the men's division and the quarter finals of the women got underway in solid 4-6 footers at the famed right hand point of El Confital.
This coincided with a National holiday in Gran Canaria and literally thousands of spectators came to see the worlds best in action.
Heat 3 round 5 was a classic. Mike Stewart has been treated like a god since the moment he landed and he was out to show that age has no boundaries when he opened up with a deep tube that had the crowd on their feet.
Unfortunately he never consolidated and was relegated to 4th place. The crowd didn't care, they virtually carried him from the surf and treated him like a champion.
In one of the last heats of the day South African Mark McCarthy sneaked past an inform John Showell (Aus) to snatch second place and move into the man on man round 6. With 2 seconds remaining Mark vaulted out of a Confital lip with a highflying roll that had the huge crowd going nuts.
The battle for the world title continued with both Ben Player and Amaury Laverhne making into the man on man heats.
The girls also charged with Unate Agguire (SPN) and Lilly Pollard (AUS) leading the way with some serious charging in the puncy slabs.
