Matthew Lombard is the 2010 Caves Classic Champion

The event hosted by Boland and held at the famous Caves, drew between fifty and sixty riders. Conditions were not too favourable with 2 foot swell and a southerly swell direction. Riders had to work there hardest to impress the judges. Matthew Lombard, still a junior, took the honours by winning Pro's. It was a very close Pro's final but Matthew surfed consistently well throughout the comp and landed some big moves to give him the title. He was stoked with his first ever Pro's win. Stephan du Preez also a junior, from Durban finished in 2nd place. Tristan Roberts took first place for Boys. His solid riding skill was once again impressive.
Matthew Lombard and Stephan du Preez landed some big ARS' but George Wolfwaardt took the prize sponsored by Power Balance for the biggest and cleanest ARS of the day. Ryno Turketti took both the mens and DK titles. Nicci Gericke won the ladies and Masters 1st Place was won by Gerrit Hitge. The Grand Masters title once again went to Marcel Habets with Len Bradford in 2nd place.
It was nice to see some new younger riders competing. The senior riders were also very well represented and looks like we get more and more representation from them at every competition.
The Juniors finals heat was very tight but in the end Aide Wilson pulled off a well deserved win.
The BBA wants to thank REEF SA, Glider Sunglasses, Power Balance, Friedman and Cohen, Powerade for making this a fun and exiting event. Hope to see you next year again.
