It's not that simple fellas... Being on the sixty40 mag team and a photographer brings with it a small degree of conflicting interest... Add to that, Cape Town, where I live, has the highest number of submissions for images (and it's a lot more than anywhere else!) and you soon see that not everything submitted can be included. The mag tries to stick with one rule only and that is: 'the best images get printed.' Unfortunately this is not always realistic... Consider that we want to feature riders from our whole coastline, that we aim to showcase diversity in waves, location, riders, manoeuvres, style, prone, dk, contest, freesurf and you should understand not everything makes into the mag. As it is, I already feel that there are to many DC images in the online galleries but if no one else is submitting... well, what can I say? Imagine if the same happened in the mag..? I can hear the calls of favouritism or worse yet, nepotism, so I steer clear of the selection process. Anyway, I really dig the shot of Donovan - Yeah, it's not a boost or a fat barrel but I love the anticipation of "what happens next..." So now that the mag is circulating I can post the images that didn't make the cut ;-) Checkout under Sessions: "Maxing Monday Session" | |
