Hot, sweating and smelling as funky as a fish left out in the sun all day………..Riaan and I thought we were dying and that time was standing still, just to piss us off, but that wasn’t the case…. The clocks were still ticking and we were still standing at Bali International Airport. The problem was the new arrivals …….. Fresh meat!…….I’m still not sure if it was jet lag or the fact that not one of the four arrivals even knew what the helpful little signs and arrows in an airport mean. The fact remains …….. They were the LAST to walk through those doors ! Thanks guys, we appreciate it.

Henkie, Theo, Nicolai and Justin were now officially fresh meat and in Bali. So we shoved them in a taxi and headed for Dreamland. The taxi was costing a cool Rp150 000 and within seconds Henkie was franticly working out the exchange rate on his cute little pocket calculator, while Theo tried capturing every moment on video ………Things were going just peachy…. Till their driver got pulled over for downing a Bintang ….. While driving past yet another corrupt police station . So with a cool Rp50 000 fine and some skilled words they were back on the road.

After filling there taxi with a pool of sweat ….. The boys finally arrived at there new home! So after a swim a few Bintangs and some chow , they lay there little heads down and drifted away ………
Early the next morning Henkie and me headed down to Uluwatu for a dawny…. It might have only been 2-3 foot, but it was his the first time surfing Ulu’z and better yet he was the very first person in the water that day…. Sick!

After a quick visit to the local corrupt police station, a few photos and of course some FEES…….
The boys had their licenses and headed back to Kuta to pick up their bikes and then the truth was revealed. The truth being if it wasn’t for Bali’s corrupt cops Henkie would be doing a lot of walking… because this man can’t ride a bike to save his life! Thank God for automatics.

We finally made it in one piece back to Dreamland and with the surf being rather flat, spear fishing seemed a good idea. So once the boys knew which fish to shoot they headed out to catch some dinner, returning THREE hours later with only four measly fish…..never mind boys practice makes perfect!

The good news is the surf is on the increase and by this weekend we will have tails to tell our grandchildren about. Stories of endless barrels, heavy wipes and near death experiences. The surf might be flat at the moment but that doesn’t mean that life isn’t good cause like our local friend Ariar always says,
“Sometimes good, sometimes very good cause everyday in Dreamland is a Sunday!”
