Day Two of the Plett Wedge Classic got off to a slow start with a strong onshore wind and lumpy conditions delaying heats. Despite this, the boys, ladies and juniors semi-finals took place and all contestants performed really well under the unfavourable circumstances.
Contest organisers were stoked to see a total of 8 ladies entering this year, doubling last year's entries and look forward to seeing Suzie Vester, Georgie McKeone, Janneke de Kock and Nicolette Gericke competing in the finals tomorrow.
Juniors Semi's saw S.A. Champ Tirstan Roberts (Boland), who was knocked out of the Pros division yesterday, competing against Plett local and 'Face of the Wedge', Nik Martin. Nik Martin won the heat, but the two will go up against each other again tomorrow in the Juniors final and will be joined by Wilder Schultz (WP) and Plett local, Michael Searle. It's going to be a cracker!
Another of the highlights of the day was the 'Born in Africa' Development Clinic, which saw pro-riders, local Nippers and Sea Rescue volunteers, assisting the youngsters, as they got to experience a bit of bodyboarding and learn about the ocean.
Conditions are expected to improve for the third and final day of the contest and contestants and supporters can look forward to an epic day of riding!
